"Old age is precariously balanced between a weighty past and an intangible future….and this time becomes one in which reframing of personal life history plays a major role…..in activities of remembering and re-examining events in the context of accumulated knowledge and experience.”

Spring 2010
VIVA Acting Up, Acting Out
VIVA is the Society for Creative Aging's original theatre troupe, formed in 2002. We welcome everyone who wants to come out and play with us.
Throughout the year we explore different theatre genres, learn from theatre professionals, and, working with a professional writer and director, we script material borrowed from famous playwrights, combined with our original work. An original production is mounted every November.
Last year we performed in Boulder, Lafayette and Erie as part of the 2009 Lucien Wulsin Creative Arts Festival.
Watch for news of our upcoming sell out performances!
VIVA Monthly Workshops
VIVA continues to engage in a year long learning and creative initiative with monthly workshops offering learning opportunities led by professional actors, educators and community leaders with the goal of enhancing acting skills and broadening knowledge of theatrical possibilities. VIVA meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at the Frasier Meadows Retirement Community, 350 Ponca Place in Boulder. These are free and open to the public.
Current Performances
The Gin Game was an Emmy Award winning Broadway play in the 70’s. It has been brought back to life as our talented resident actor’s from the VIVA Theatre Troupe perform scenes one and two at venues throughout Boulder County. Stay tuned for their next performance this summer!

Taking memory to the next level: A workshop in personal narratives and visual stories/collage
Experience an afternoon of personal exploration of our own stories and history through a short, guided narrative writing experience that culminates in the creation of a collage self-portrait and visual story of your own. This workshop, inspired by “Face to Face” artist Beverly McIver's powerful and poignant visual story, comes alive in the current BMoCA exhibit. This workshop promises to be an intriguing afternoon where you can express individual themes and incorporate life stories with experienced artist facilitators.
Absolutely no artistic talent or previous writing or collage experience is necessary. You'll be encouraged to find your own authentic voice and unleash your creative spirit. And, you'll have fun!
Your journey will be guided by two phenomenal facilitators, memoirist-writer, Kay Clark-Uhles and collagist Annie Russell. Kay is an experienced creative writer and leads workshops in reflective and memory writing. Annie Russell is a collagist who has reinvented her life many times and has guided hundreds of others on their journey.
